This product is made from the straw of the piaçava palm, and its production represents an important source of income for the families of the Quilombo Boitaraca, in Nilo Peçanha, Bahia, Brazil, besides contributing to the permanence of the artisans in the region.

The palm straw is sustainably harvested through challenging climbs, respecting the plant’s regeneration time, which varies from one and a half to three years.

Both the climbing technique and the weaving knowledge are passed down from generation to generation, preserving the stories and legacy of the quilombola families.

The harvested, woven, and embroidered straw transforms into beautiful baskets, trays, and placemats - unique and exclusive pieces!
