This product is made from the straw of the piassava palm and is responsible for generating income for families in Ituberá, Bahia, Brazil, as well as for its maintenance in this region.

Palm straw is harvested by men, sustainably, and woven by women who join artisan associations.

The piassava braiding technique is passed on from generation to generation and carries the history and affections of the families descended from indigenous people and quilombolas.
