Story that tells

The baskets, known as "cofos" by fishermen, are made from the fibers of the carnauba palm and provide income for families in Ilha Grande de Santa Isabel, in the Parnaíba Delta, Brazil, helping them to remain in the region.

The fiber is sustainably harvested and woven by women between the ages of 15 and 65, who organize themselves into artisan associations.

The carnauba weaving technique has Indigenous origins and has been passed down from generation to generation, carrying with it the families’ stories and traditions.

After harvesting, the fiber is sun-dried, dyed, and woven into beautiful baskets, trays, and placemats — each one a unique and exclusive piece.

Use

Multifunctional, can be used for towels, throws, plants, dried flowers, and assorted objects.
